So is the A2 actually water resistant/waterproof?

where does this '1 atm' figure come from? they official specs only say 'weather resistant' (or similar).

Put extra silicone lube on the o-rings and do not twist the tailcap while underwater. It should serve you just fine.

Greetings!

I've actually dunked one of mine deliberately (in 1.5 feet of water) several times for up to 12 hours at a time, as part of the testing my Aviatrix mods went through during the initial durability evaluation. It caused no problems... and I still carry that particular A2 (S/N 61616) with me every day, with no delayed failures! I would say that A2's stand up to water just fine... and come back asking for more! :)

Best wishes,
Bawko

I've read that at one point, the A2 was the only water resistant rated light of the slimmer personal series.

same concept as learning Newtonian physics....surefire tests their lights by a standard, say if the manufacturer labels their lights as "water resistant to 50 feet" it doesn't tell you at what pressure does the o-rings successfully seal until 50 feet

A lights ability to resist water fluctuates between above or below sea level, temperature, etc are constraints that must be controlled when testing for reproducible results
