Mine has been through a washing machine..."Honey, what is banging around in the washer? And where are my work pants?" Oh @#$%!!!!!" Still works great, 2 years latter...
I've actually dunked one of mine deliberately (in 1.5 feet of water) several times for up to 12 hours at a time, as part of the testing my Aviatrix mods went through during the initial durability evaluation. It caused no problems... and I still carry that particular A2 (S/N 61616) with me every day, with no delayed failures! I would say that A2's stand up to water just fine... and come back asking for more!
same concept as learning Newtonian physics....surefire tests their lights by a standard, say if the manufacturer labels their lights as "water resistant to 50 feet" it doesn't tell you at what pressure does the o-rings successfully seal until 50 feet
A lights ability to resist water fluctuates between above or below sea level, temperature, etc are constraints that must be controlled when testing for reproducible results
