All,

I have a couple of emitters that have been AA-ed into lights that I'd like to replace. Is there some way to safely weaken the AA epoxy without damaging either the emitter or the Al (HA and bare) heatsinks?

Warming the epoxy (with a heat gun or even a toaster oven) helps soften it. You may have trouble salvaging the emitter, the plastic case and lens will often separate from the die/slug when you try to remove it, as the glue that holds those parts together is weaker than even softened epoxy.

If it aint broke leave it alone. Pulling an AA'ed emitter is a high risk operation. If the host your lux is in is not serviceable then i'd say give it a try otherwise leave it alone.
