AA maglite o-ring question.

I am working on finding all of the colors of the AA maglite and wondering if anyone knows when the round o-ring was switched to the flat o-ring in the tail cap.

Also when was the markingS on the bezel changed from ONTARIO.CA to CALIFORNIA, USA ??

Check Maglite's site for clues. For example, I know they changed their serial numbering system to include a letter about battery size. Some C and D cell mags are 834594 (numbers) while others are D72347483 (for a D cell mag). I read about it on the Mag site, maybe they provide some dates there?

AA Mags don't have serial numbers so you can't date from that.

I'm not sure, but I think the changes you mention were part of the 1989-1990 modernization. Marking changed from stamping to laser, and the D/C cell switch mounting was changed, along with the serial prefix and the addition of the ram's head.

You don't have to work that hard, check the AA minimag collection thread. Turbodog and/or Roy have the most complete Minimag collections around here and I know for sure one of them posted a complete list of all available colors. They might also be able to help you with your o-ring question.
