I know you cannot get a 1.5V rechargeable lithium, but I would like an AA-size rechargeable lithium. It will replace 2 AA cells, I am going to put a dummy cylinder in the other bay to close the circuit.

Which of those cell form dealextreme or kai matches the AA alkaline in size?

14500? 18500? what do these number mean? the first 2 is the diameter in mm? the last 3 what? length?

I would also need protected cells.

thanks for the advice.

The last 0 indicates it's round I think. So a 14500 is 14mm in diameter and 50mm long.

Either way, a single Li-Ion + spacer will have less stored energy than a pair of AA's, so I'm not sure why you want to use a 14500. By the way, a 14500 is a AA sized cell.
