How does this achieve 1024 meter beam with 5500 Lumens when the K30 with 5200 Lumens was only 374 meters? 650 meters more beam distance with only an extra 300 lumens? Is it a more focused beam by the reflector or the LED? Does the K30-GT still have as much spill as the K30?

Larger head diameter, for more meters throw, is my humble guess.

48mm head diameter for K30, increased to 57 mm head diameter K30GT.

Larger head diameter only yields a little bit more lumens, but the lumens are more focused into a more concentrated beam, due to the larger head diameter.

The newer GT may also possibly be driven a little bit harder. However, it is the significantly larger reflector diameter which directly yields more throw.

Thanks, I figured either that or a deeper more focused reflector or both. I'd like to see some beam shots of it. Just ordered a K30 as it's about half the price of the GT. GT also has a different LED which might be part of the longer throw too.

The original XHP-70 in the original K30 had a dome on it IIRC, whereas the SBT-90 in the newer GT model is flat without a dome. This increases the luminance coming from the emitter significantly and is probably a larger factor in the dramatically increased throw than the slightly bigger reflector.
