Advice buying a brown bomber?

About four years ago I found a great brown bomber jacket for 50% off. It was simple in design, no elastic bands, no fuzzy stuff on the collar. It was thick but very soft, almost like lambskin.

I loved it. Two years ago in the local tavern/pool hall (that doesn't quite describe it. It's very large place, restaurant, dancing, big beer garden for bands). I was standing at the bar talking with friends near closing time. This group is friends with the owner and most of the crew so we typically stayed after close. My jacket was on a chair at a table five or six steps away from me.

Poof! It dissappeared. Well, it came out that a new cocktail waitress was seen putting it behind the bar in the lost and found cabinet. She left and we could not find the jacket. There were holes in her story and allot of us didn't buy it but what can you do?

Staying mad about the loss of a possession is not the way to go. My best solution was to begin saving and looking around for a replacement. I can't seem to find anything like it in retail outlets. It seems that black and very dark brown(almost black) is what retailers stock. I kept thinking I could catch a sale after Christmas but I just can't seem to find a high quality, soft, simple brown bomber jacket.

Any suggestions?

I hate to call them bomber jackets, as fighter pilots also wear them.

I got a jacket fromwww.flightsuits.com who provide equipment for the Thunderbirds and the Blue Angels. They can customize jackets with your preference of pocket style. They also have a "clearance" section.

Just right. Beautiful jackets. Now I gotta see if they have sales. But that's exactly what I'm looking for...a 4-5 hundred dollar jacket @ 40-50% off.

That's cool. Real aviator jackets specked out for civilians. I didn't browse the whole site but I found what you where talking about.

Thanks guys. I surfed for an hour yesterday and only found the one site.

x-ray, I just noticed the "special feature" on these jackets. Dano and Mr. Bulk (among others) might want to check these out. Where I'm from you can get a CWL and EDC a CW in many situations.

I'm satisfied with the one I bought from Cabelas'.
The leather is very soft and the color is a lot lighter than the one shown here . It's made in Canada.

That is nice. I really like the color. I kinda like leather cuffs and waistband but, I see what you were doing there. With the knit cuffs and waistband partnered with thinsulate you got a good, warm jacket. It's reasonably priced, looks good and it came from Cabelas'. Mmm hmm.

Thanks.

There you go! They have a retail outlet close to me. I checked there last year but they had just black or extremely dark brown. They may have this one this year. I can actually go see and touch. Even if they only have it in black I can still check it out. This one you found is actually brown and on sale.

Thanks Wingerr.

Glad I could help-

I'm with you as far as the preference for all leather waist and cuffs, mainly because they would tend to hold up better than the knit types.

Hope it's what you were looking for-
