Well everybody, I'm new to the forum as you can probably tell by my post count...anyway, I just got one of these AE Powerlight 24 watt HID flashlights dropped off today by the good ol' UPS man. OMG, this thing is bright!! A little bigger than I had figured, but not too big, especially for the amount of light it puts out and burn time. Overall I must say I am impressed with it's performance. I'm glad I got a fairly big car (06 Charger R/T) so it will fit under the seat for storage. Well that's about it for now, I guess, be looking out for me I will be asking some questions about a little bit of everything the next few weeks until I get into some of the mods that are available for almost everything on the market.

Yes i was suprised also when i received my PL14. I said to myself, wow, this is bulkier than i thought it would be but i was also suprised for that bulky size it is not heavy at all, actually a 4D mag loaded with 4 heavy alkalines is much heavier that the AE PL.

Believe it or not I actually bought my AE from a shop so I had played with it for several minutes and then purcheased it. So I wasn't in for any surprise. But when I saw it beat a Surefire M6, I knew it was worth it.

Of course even though I have brighter lights, I don't regret the purchase... its a real nice light.

I've also got an M6 myself and yeah the powerlight is in a whole different arena. How long after you turn your lights on does if flicker.....mine seems to flicker 20 seconds or so after it is fully heated up, not all the time though. Just wondering if I have a bad ballast or bulb.

20-30 secs seems pretty normal for most HIDs without quick start. My Brightstar seems to flicker within the first 10 secs, but after that it stabilises and continues getting brighter. I believe within 20 secs its fully up.

I believe after a long period of disuse, the startup might take slightly longer? From my personal experience that is.

Ok, thanks.....I was just under the impression that the bulb was already fully hot and it shouldn't flicker anymore, doesn't always do it, guess I'll live with it.

So I'm just curious... what did you guys pay for your AE lights?

I actually get them directly from the manufacturer before AE Light puts their branding on it.

I hear that AE does more than just put their branding on the Prolumens light. I've been told here that they upgrade the reflector & tweak the light for maximum output & brightness.

did a search on prolumens and came out with a bunch of car stuff....what should I be looking for?

Exactly!! There main business is car HID bulbs but they make the HID flashlights too in Taiwan.

Prolumens is the OEM HID headlight producer for Toyota, Nissan & Ford.
