This is pretty interesting. Incandescent bulbs in series with leds to make a voltage regualor. New batteries - high resistance, old batteries - low resistance. Low load on the bulbs so they probably last a long time.

Hi again Jeff,

I think it's a pretty good idea.
The efficiency isnt there, but heck i still
run some of my LED's with a series resistor
just for high reliability.

Unfortunately, the down side is the bulbs'
presence in the circuit brings back the
susceptibility to premature failure after
a drop, which is one of the things i really
hated about bulbs
