I just finished reading another post about the E2e and problems with immersion due to a lack of a needed washer.

I got my first E2e in about a week ago (incredible light!) so I was wondering if I'm in need of one of these washers. I unscrewed the tailpiece push switch and the head assembly.

After reassembling the tailpiece and light assembly I find myself with a dead light.

What did I do wrong? Oh and no, I didn't make any modifications or anything of the sort. Nor did I remove the bulb. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Have a safe and happy new year everyone

Try cleaning the contact surfaces - on each end of the body.

Do you mean you unscrewed the TailCap or you removed the push button switch from within the TailCap?

i think he meant he merely removed the tailcap

matchbox: check to make sure the tailcap is not locked out...check the polarity of the batteries and also the contacts as Al mentioned. if all else fails the lamp might be faulty. if that's the case just contact surefire's customer service and they should take care of it.

Thanks everyone. The light was in use right before I read the aforementioned post and I wasn't having any problem at all. I didn't have any problems at all until I removed the head of the light just as you would when you have to replace batteries.

I have the tailcap turned fully clockwise and with the head off I can take the lamp assembly itself and make contact with the batteries to light the bulb. When I put the assembly inside the head and screw the head back on is when I have problems. The O ring is in place as it should be. Somewhere I'm not making contact when the light is fully assembled.

Sorry to be obvious but have you checked the batteries? There is a chance that one of them has failed or the LA has!
I have experienced the sudden death of just one of two Surefire 123's and although it's as rare as hen's teeth you should'nt exclude it as a possibility.

Yep, just checked again. Right now I have the head off of the light, the tailcap is turned fully clockwise in the constant on position. I take the lamp assembly itself and make contact to the exposed + terminal on the battery to complete the circuit and voila! Now if it would just act that way fully assembled lol.

Ok, I was just going over everything again to see if I could figure this out.

When inserting the lamp assembly back into the head I tried turning it slightly and then reattach everything. Did nothing the first or second time but third time was the charm. Weird eh?

Oh well, all that matters is that it works and I can finally get on with the rest of the day lol.

Thanks for everyones input.
