Aftermarket Automotive fog lights for possible headlight or helmet light?

So I have been trying to come up with a solution for a cheap bike headlight. I was thinking that maybe I could use a pair of aftermarket automotive fog lights that run off of a 12 volt battery. I think this might work if I can find a rechargeable 12 volt dc battery that is small enough to be carried in a water bottle or in my pack with a cord running to the lights themselves. I thought maybe I could mount 1 on the handlebars and 1 on my helmet.

Has anybody ever tried this? Will it work?

If it will not work, please explain to me why it won't. I am not that versed in all the electronics of the lights yet.

I'm trying to find something as cheap as possible for the time being, because I don't want to mess up the progress I have made since I started riding two months ago. However, since the time just changed I have not been able to ride. I need to come up with something quick and for not alot of money.

I saw where many people utilize MR16 bulbs in different ways (halogen). This would be fine, but keep in mind I also have to invest in a battey pack. I have a nice digital car battery charger at home, and I don't know if it would work for charging the kind of battery I will need or not. The battery packs I see that seem the least expensive are the multiple AA setups. I figured if I can get 8 rechargeable AAs in a pack they will work for 12 volts. I need at leat 1 hour run time, no more.

Any help would be appreciated.
