Finally, I was able to secure an ARC LS. I have been drooling over these since I first heard of them. My life is now complete (for awhile). Thank you Peter for a wonderful product.

Yes, Peter,

Thank you! My ARC LS second arrived today. It's by far the brightest LED light I've owned.

As far as the quality of the seconds, the threads for all battery compartments & the head are perfect, the beam is perfectly centered (with a very slight greenish tint that actually looks quite warm) and it operates perfectly. After the closest inspection I could manage, I found a slight bit of uneven anodizing on the AA battery tube, which tells me that Peter is the most discerning of engineers. It speaks volumes that he's unwilling to sell something as a 'First' that is so close to perfect.

Thanks again, and KEEP MAKING THESE GREAT LIGHTS!

Happily waiting for dark (and the first REAL test),

I got my LS seconds yesterday and this *will* be my EDC light from now! The SF E1 and E2 will be my backup. It is bright enough for most tasks, will not need a bulb replacement, uses common batteries, small but solid, waterproof. If this is not an EDC light, I don't know what is. I am very impressed with this light.

My #451 LS has a perfectly centered beam with a tint of green hue which is actually quite pleasing to the eye. I placed a piece of Writerite over the lens and the beam is even better now.

Other than the differece in HA tones for the power packs and the head, everything is first rate. Now the AA pack is my favourite.

If the seconds are that good, I can't imagine what the first will be like.

The only complaint I have about the unit is that the battery compartments are a little light in tint compared to the head (but, thats what makes a second I assume). The fit and finish are excellent and it has a nice even beam with a slightly greenish tint that looks rather warm compared to the Lambda Illuminator. It will be my weekend carry light. I am very impressed with its light output with the 123A cell. I have a bunch of these laying around from my Surefires, and am glad to find something to finish them off.

Xenon, I'm using Energizer E2 123s, S$4.00 or less each from Sng Arms at Beach Road. No problems - and I just bought a dozen

Hmmm,

The Surefire 123's work fine in my LS Second.

Incidentally, I have LS #394. I'm kind of surprised that some of you who have had their seconds for much longer than me (I got mine yesterday!) have higher serial #'s.....hey Peter, you have these things lying around in a big bin?

hello hotfoot!
I too bought the Energizer E2 123 but at $3.50 at a store near Maxwell road. I got this source from spidey82.

The E2 cells works in my 123 pack but I have to give it a hard twist. The AA pack works great with Nimh cells.

How's your holiday?

Hiya Xenon! Yeah, thanks - Phuket was lovely! I was reminded how cool our flashlights are when I pulled out a $2.50 "emergency" flashlight out of the hotel room drawer which spat out orange rings of -uh, light? Blackout at the resort gave me a chance to whip out some of my lites

S$3.50 for 123s? You da battery man! Let's meet up this week

Will phone ya...

My Arc-LS works nicely with Energizers (no hard twisting required once properly lubed), but crushes them a little. Just received my 2nd SLS too - same result.

I was able to get Energizer E2s and Duracells to work. The Surefires will not work in it though.

I posted the following in the ARC LS thread, but I'll post it here too.

I use the 123 tube, but the 2AA tube is an attractive option. The E2e is brighter than the LS, with a more intense hotspot, but it has greatly reduced runtime compared to the LS. The LS has a nice gentle blanket of light, whereas the E2e has a little more throw to the light it produces. The good thing is that you can use your 'dead' batteries from the E2e in your LS and get 1/2 hour more light out of them.
