I just bought this light:

It was a part of the September 2006 Odds & Ends Auction. I'm seeking information on the finish of the light, and one of its parts.

1. The light was anodized and then painted with the desert sand finish. Don recalls it was done by a company which specializes in custom finishes for weapons and military gear, but he does not recall the name of the company. He thinks the firm was recommended by a CPFer. Anyone have a clue for me?

2. Just forward of the tail cap is a flared portion with a hole and notch.

Don thinks it may be a 2x123F tube and that the portion is for grip and lanyard attachment. Any input on this part?

Thanks in advance,
Donn

You might wanna search for "rubberized Aleph" as this is , IIR, how those were called. Unfortunately seatch is acting up here so I can't do it myself.

I have a similar flared 2*123 bare Al. tube.

I have put a split-ring in the hole/notch as I find it prevents the light
rolling around when lying down and then the split-ring can also be used
to attach a lanyard with a McGizmo clip to.

Its a good idea to apply some insulation tape if you do this to avoid
scratching the surface (which is quite easy)
