Has anyone used an Aleph head on a headlight?
With a small dummy tube (cr2?) for attaching the head and an external battery-pack it should make a great headlight for nimh or lithiums.. Two stage should be easy to mod as well using either two shwitches or a three way switch...
I'm drooling over the Aleph 1 and need another excuse for buying it... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif

Hey! I think you should buy one to use as a headlight! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Honestly though, I have enough purpose-built headlamps that would do the job better... but don't let me stop you! Bad Darell. Bad Darell.

I have all 3 sizes in headlamps! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

All you need is any E-series body with clip and a baseball cap! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I don't wear a baseball cap when skiing... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
There aren't that many good headlights out there and the runtime on my Q3 isn't long enough. Beam is good though... Maybe an A2 head is better.. This is starting to sound expensive..

Just thought that if I bought an Aleph I should use it as much as possible. Usually don't use hand-held lights for more than a few minutes, but the headlights are often on for a couple of hours at the time..

Why not just use a Nite-Ize strap. Even though it's on the side it still works. That's a decent set up if you don't want a dedicated headlight. I've skied that way.

There are some decent headlamps and HDS has a nice one on the way, but they aren't all that great doubling as hand held lights.
