I ordered one of these expecting the 150 cell to fit.

Unfortunately, the 150A doesn't fit into the Aleph 1.5 body, I assume this to mean that the 150S Pila does.

Before I ordered, I looked and couldn't find any spec of which it was, so I screwed up and ordered.

Please make it plain in the threads that the 1.5 is for the Pila-S.

Bill,

Sorry for the confusion there! I initially took to calling the tube a 1x17500 tube to designate the 17 mm OD and not the 18 mm diameter of the 150A. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif I am not aware of any "E" series tubes that can accomodate a 150A or 168A cell as the 18 mm diameter is in conflict with the geometry constraints of the E series.

EDIT:
I am sorry you didn't inquire on the forum, prior to your order. I have seen it suggested on the forum that the "S" designates SureFire compatability. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif Aside from the LH and its design based on the 150A, I am not aware of many lights designed to take this cell.

No problem McGizmo, just wanted to let others know so it would be more obvious.

I made a stupid assumption and need to order some S Pilas from Jon now, that's no problem either!

BTW, I ordered parts to look at them to check quality and becuase I had heard so much about them.

They actually exceeded my expectations and the quality is superb!!!

Incredible work!!

I won't say that making a 168A body for the Aleph system is impossible, but it would involve more machine work because you'd need to accommodate the E series switch and a method of changing batteries. I've made a couple and didn't like the product. It resulted in a light body that was really fat.

The S series batteries do fit the Aleph bodies, but the tightness of the fit depends on the batteries. I've seen some Pilas that were a tight fit that required removal of the switch to push the battery out of the tube from the back end. Although the fit was tight, it isn't by much. I have, on occassion, reamed Aleph bodies out by a few thousandths for a more comfortable fit.
