I recently entered my flashlights into the local fair for competitive collecting exhibits. 20210919_161959.jpg Of course a flashlight fanatic can't get rid of all lights. I was stuck deciding which light/lights to keep as my one and only. I had narrowed it down to 2 lights. My second runner up was a FIVEMEGA creation nickle Plated 6p bored out to accept 18650 cells and a McClicky tail cap paired with micro USB rechargeable surefire 18650 and a Malkoff LED 1 mode drop in. 20210918_181154.jpg in the end my decision was based up pocketability, compactness, and a bit of attachment. The one and only light had to be a clone SureFire E1E by Lumen Factory paired with a EO-E1R, 90 lumen incandescent and a Fenix 16340 micro USB rechargeable battery. 20210919_164136.jpg 20210919_164143.jpg ?hash=9d11894d429d3bdac6e413a8540b11b0.jpg which light would you choose?

I would choose the pineapple e1e for two reasons. Incan is better! Second. I find a 6p is too big for comfortable pocket carry so no good as an edc. That e series is very good for that though.
That being said those five mega done nickel plated six piece truly look amazing. Would be better with a LF HO4 though

He had to choose one light to keep and use for 3 weeks while the rest of his collection is on display at the local fair.

The Acebeam ec65 with the Nichia LEDs. This is when it is also good to have duplicates, triplicates. I can exhibit a single light and keep using the other one, two or three of them.

I carry and use MDC M61WLL the most by far, but it lacks high and moonlight so its a no go for only-one. MD2 low is kinda useless. Fury would be good but large for edc. so my choice is Zebra SC5c II. Its got it all.

He/she is asking between their two options. Not your favorite edc? Or am I reading it wrong? Just trying to keep on topic.

I think that you made a wise choice.

My first thought was to keep the smallest light that you have, to have one as an EDC, yet, one that is larger than a key chain light.

My EDC is a CooYoo Quantum, a key chain light, and I often grab one of the many Convoy S2+ lights or similar lights when I need one around the house. So I wouldn't want to give them all up. Therefore I would keep a light that is larger than my keychain light, but smaller than the S2+. In other words one that is larger than my typical EDC, but still rather small. I'd probably keep my Eagletac D25A which takes a single AA cell or a 14500 Li-Ion

Jetbeam TCR1. I can feed it anything . AA , AAA , CR123, 18650, 18500, 18350.
Far from the most efficient or reliable light available. But it is the light which I am most comfortable and familiar with. But, I am also of the opinion , if you can not improvise a battery and simple charger , from junk , you are not ready for dark times. Skills and knowledge last, not gear.

SLN and a Malkoff M361 219b dropin. That or my MD2x lego setup, M91T/ Wildcat V6/ M361s and all the extenders for any cell combo.

Easy, Zebralight SC64w HI.
.06 to 1300 lumens.
Add a headband, and it'd cover the entirety of my actual flashlight needs.

3 weeks? Naturally, I'd prefer to keep all my other favorites that are more preferred or ideal for different ranges of use, but if I had to go 3yrs with just that light, it wouldn't hurt me any.

HDS High Noon. It’s not the best at anything that I do but it will cover everything I need a light for. Come to think of it , it actually did for over a year.

Likely one of my FW3As since they get the most use anyway and are reasonably balanced in terms of capability, runtime, and compactness.
