Alpha G6 drop in for surefire

Hey Everybody,

In a previous thread I asked what the brightest light that runs on 2*cr123. I found an alpha g6 led drop in on eBay that claims 340L. I said to myself yeah sure...but there's a video by the seller who uses a Lux meter that registered 20,000 Lux with the drop in! Anyone have it or think it's worth giving it a shot?

I purchased the Alpha G8 which the seller says is 400 lumens. Compared to the Malkoff M60, well lets just say the M60 out performs it in every way.

Malkoff M60 has way more throw, better beam quality, and outdoors it illuminates more degrees.


Note: I ran 3 and 2 cr123's in the Alpha G8, but only 2 cr123's in the M60. The M60 was still visibly brighter.


Edit: To my knowledge the brightest P60 drop-in with 2 cell set-up is still the M60. Or if you don't mind using lighthounds inexpensive solarforce 18650 tube with youre Surefire bezel/tail set-up you could run a P7 drop-in from Malkoff with 1 18650 and get a true 600 to 700 lumens for about 1 hour.

Malkoffs are about as good as it gets for drop-ins
Email Malkoff and ask for a P7 drop-in.
About 500-700 lumens there...and its not an over-rated figure like the one in the link.

-Over priced
-Over-rated for Lumen output
-As far as the video, they are illustrating how much more LUX their drop in has compared to the P60L... most DX/Kai drop ins perform similarly.

i look on the web site and there's no one p7 in sell!? that is normal? or i have to contact him by email??? .... and tell me more about the p7 bulb.... its about 500 600 lumen but how many time with the normal 3volt battery of my surefire 6p led?

OK in a 6p it'll be 6 volts.

To get the Malkoff you want you will need to PM him and E-mail him your request. I like to be thorough.

Runtime, well this is the 1 malkoff I don't have actually! Can't tell you runtime.

ok i send him a email... i bought the m60 one month ago... if i had known ! that cost me 86$ CA with the shipping ! i would have wait...

Thats what he said to me !!! ..........

(It is a direct drive P7 suitable only for use with a single rechargeable lithium cell. I've been working on some driver designs for the P7. Hopefully I will have something ready in a few weeks.

OH he's doing the Li-ion ones first. My bad.

Go for the AW 17670 cells if you want to put it in a stock 6P, best ones I have ever used.
