Am I the only one having trouble with this board?

For me it works less than it doesn`t work. I believe others may be having trouble but can`t report it. I upgraded to explorer 5.5 hoping it might help and it worked...once...then right back to the same...maybe...probable not. This morning I have been trying different things...and now it`s working but I don`t know if it`s another one time shot. Last night I tried with a friends computer, Road runner, and got page cannot be displayed. I tried with my mothers computer, same thing. I tried with another friends computer and same thing. Any suggestions?

No you`re not alone- I have IE5.5 too and these last 5 days have had terrible trouble getting in. Just an hour ago the board broke again, it won`t even pull the title "enter" page, just sits there and eventually times out. I disconnected and closed IE for half an hour and when I came back it was fine. I don`t think it`s a software thing- it`s most likely a web host thing but either way it`s EXTREMELY frustrating. The other day I wanted to post something I thought was of interest and forgot what it was cos I couldn`t access the board all day (saturday)! It`ll come back to me sometime perhaps?

GRRRR!!!

(sorry!)

I spoke with a gentleman named David at Infopop. He said a lot of the problems we are having is with the betta stuff. He said the final realese of 6.0 is out and after DavidW downloads it we should have fewer problem as "hundreds of boards are on it now and are running smooth". Let`s hope so.

I have had lots of trouble connecting too. Hopefully it will be fixed soon as this is my favorite place to go on the internet.

Hang in there guys.

Well I just got locked out of the forum for the last hour. I had previously saved the above link, but it didn't help. Atleast I now know it's not my computer or my connection, or my imagination. I'm wondering if others had the same problem getting on at the same time. This might help isolate the problem. I find it hard to believe that it's caused by too many people trying to log on at the same time, since there's probably only a handful of people here at any one time.

Thanks Ken, I put the link in favorits and so far it works like a charm. I hope other members can get far enough to see your tip. Makes me think there`s a problem with the board and it`s cookie`s but I really don`t know much about such things.

When it`s down here (and I`m locked out too when it is!) it`s down for hours on end. Yesterday all day, all I had were 2 little half-hour-ish "windows" of proper operation and then it just broke again for no reason. I don`t think it`s the server getting overloaded by too many people at once unless it physically explodes and some team of technicians need to keep replacing components all the time!!
And the link idea of KenBar`s doesn`t work either. What else can we do? Plus this site is set as my homepage so it`s the first thing I see when I load IE5.5. And when it won`t load it messes things round a bit which is not nice!!!

I`m on 28.8 dialup with no firewalls and today it seems fine, or is that tempting fate? I guess the tech people at this site`s web host finally gave the right server a kick so it`s OK again (a good swift kick usually does it for me!!)?

This is the first time in about 4 days since this mess began that I have tried the board and got in every time properly

I spoke too soon.

It broke again this morning and only now have I been able to get back in. I turned my PC off about half an hour ago, then got bored and turned it back on and presto- the board worked again! Unless it was a coincidence, maybe it is partially a software thing. I don`t know enough to go messing with cookies, etc, but I reckon if the alpha version of the UBB6 is out now, ie no more Beta, then our host should upgrade as soon as possible which could remedy these troubles once and for all?

I can`t help but think we`re losing some members who will get tired of not being able to get in, and just give up and move on. And what about potential newcomers? They see a link to the board and think "hey that sounds great- I`ll go take a look" and they can`t. They may try it again later only to find the same thing, only to leave dissapointed never to return. We could be losing people here- it`s definately very bad for the future of this, at present, very active board.

Sorry to keep on about it!

Guess who?!!

Deleting the cookies seems to have done something here cos it broke yet again, I deleted the cookies for this board and got in! Trouble is now all the "new posts" lights are all blinking and I don`t know where to look!!

I`ll be glad when this is all over and we can all get back to talking flashlights....

I'm connected at 38K but it's so slow I don't think I'll have time to read and write here today, again..it was good yesterday though..I'll keep tryin'

I`m sorry, but if you can even get in, it`s almost as much fun as a root canal done with a Black&Decker drill by a monkey (blind one). Please, can`t anyone fix it

I just noticed it`s no longer Beta anymore! Look down there.....

DavidW must have installed the upgrade- had any improvement in accessing the board today? I have! No....mustn`t tempt fate again. Knowing my luck it`ll break again but let`s hope all that is behind us now.

I just failed to connect again in a few hours ago and I didn't know if the software has been upgraded at that time or not.

Just like Alan, I`m still having problems

even after the upgrade...I`m thinking there may be multiple things wrong...very hard to figure out...I wonder if David should try changing servers one more time...maybe shut the hole thing down and start all over again from scratch...I hope this isn`t necessary. But if we don`t do something we will lose members. Would that be a bad thing? I don`t know, maybe I would start remembering to take the garbage out.

I just sent a traceroute to another thread. It doesn't look like server problem, instead, it's more like configuration problem at their ISP.
