Amber LED options in flashlights in 2024?

Maybe HDS restocks the deep amber LEDs and makes this option available again? You may get in contact with HDS.

It's funny you mention that, cause I've been on the fence about getting an HDS, but I do think amber plays to their strenghts, since it's a color that tends to work well for lower light applications.

@jon_slider have you (hands on) experienced Hanks Ti version D3AA. Curious about tumbled finish, and oring grooves..
And, regards to button rings, are they Ti or alternate materials offered or available? I view copper on your red AA

Please pm if too far off topic
Thx..

I feel like I missed the boat on Amber.
I have no experience w this store, but they do list Amber:
maybe call and ask if they actually do have it in stock (if you feel an Aviator has the features you want)

> I don't even know if Overready is even really in business at this point
agree.. they are a machine shop, and it seems they no longer find sales at their price point is sustainable

I do have a TiCu D3AA, but not tumbled. Yes the O ring grooves are now updated to be deeper and the O ring is thicker. There is no longer the initial problem w thin O rings nor shallow grooves.

I do believe the TiCu switch ring is Titanium (with a choice of flat or raised). I have bought Ti switch rings separately to test on my Red D3AA, which I decided to use a copper ring on.

If you want a TiCu D3AA, Im pretty sure the default switch ring is Ti, but if for some reason you want a different material, you can order spare switch ring in any material you prefer (or have Hank just sell you the light w your choice of switch ring material).. I believe the options include Ti, Stainless, Copper, and Brass.. suggest you email Hank to confirm what is available.

Fwiw, I much prefer the 33 gram lower carry weight of my Aluminum D3AA. I also find the magnetic tailcap will hold the Aluminum light horizontally much more firmly than the TiCu

I also prefer the Amber switch light on my Red D3AA (which stays on when the main LEDs are on, and has a bump in brightness when main LEDs go above 25 lumens), over the RGB switch light on my TiCu D3AA (which turns Off when the main LEDs turn on)

Thanks for information Jon!
I was going with 519a 4500k domed, however, after seeing yours DD behind the optics looks marvelous!
Also, viewed jlHawaii sells (Hanks?) copper rings and bezels separately or with his builds.
Either way, I gotta go with flat with my beat up finger joints.

HDS also make 2xAA battery tube too.
Don't know if it's any good but how about the Weltool M7-AM. It's 18650 not AA though.
The 2xAA is the one I have REALLY been looking at. I've made a few posts/comments soliciting opinions on the 2xAA HDS, as it seems to be relatively uncommon.

I've kind of ended up settling on waiting for the new HDS model to come out to see if it has a user serviceable boot for the switch.

I did NOT know about that Weltool. Generally, I've had positive experiences with Weltool, though I try to only buy them from Killzone, as expensive Chinese lights don't REALLY have a warranty when it costs almost the price of the light in round trip shipping. I try not to spend over $50 on any Chinese lights, due to this warranty service concern.

true, Hank does too, for a slightly lower price than jlhawaii

the DD 4500K becomes 3500K, which is my happy place in the evening. The stock optic creates an excellent blended beam:

I dont care for the DeDomed beam in reflector lights.

Domed is much better in a reflector, if you dont mind the Tint of the 519a, which tends to be on the Green side of the neutral tint line..
