'Analog' / Candle Lantern?

Are there any quality lanterns out there that use candles (as in wax) as a source of light?

I wanted one for emergencies, so I wouldn't have to rely on batteries (might go years between use) or oil/butane (flammable and my username isn't a coincidence).

Every one I've found is cheaply made and primarily decorative: for instance, my wife found a couple of functional ones in Ikea (yep) but they'll burn one's hand if carried for more than a few seconds.

Try searching for UCO Candle Lanterns, they are reasonably tough and have an 8+ hour burn time.

You could buy one of those bigg *** "main" candles they use in churches (i'm talkin 40 inch high, 4 inch thick)... That should last you a month or something, and it wont burn you if you hold it Watch out for the ceiling tho :nana:

On a more serious note, you your best bet are just normal white candles and a solid candlestick or a ceramic holder for them. Candles aren't very usefull for carrying around tho, thats why we invented... flashlights!
