Another Audi light question

Coming out of Seattle this weekend, had a new Audi behind me for awhile. Multiple small round LED's beneath the headlight -- halo-type of affect as they weren't really driving lights, etc. Definitely bright WHITE and I assume highly diffused? They turned off when the turn signals were actuated. Anyone know the lights used? (Oscam?) Is there intended function just increased daytime visibility? I'd definitely like to add something similiar to increase daytime rain visibility (not necessarily light on the road itself) -- thus the inquiry. Thanks.

Those are Audi's new LED Daytime Running Lights. If you want similar lamps on your car, you can get them from Valeo under the Cibie name if you're masochistic enough to put up with their impossible ordering procedure, or you can get them from Hella much more easily.
