Ok I have just learned that the Multi Use Monocular (MUM aka NVM) made by Insight Technologies can take up to 4 seconds to light the tube after... the switch has been engaged. Yep you read that right the MIL spec allows for this delay. I beat my head against a wall trying to figure this out and even sent a customers unit in to get checked for this defect only to be told "Ohhh that's normal." I could not believe that.

Well my opinion of the MUM is taking a nose dive.

I have yet to figure out what is wrong with our units and I am still unsure as to whether or not getting new battery housing units will solve the problem. BTW- Take a look at my lost post in the other thread and pass me your thoughts.

My snap shot answer is to simply replace the battery packs. I realize that is a shotgun trouble shooting method but ALAS with no one in Insight willing to cough a schematic of the power supply OR supply replacement piece parts your kinda between a rock and a HARD place.

In fact I will be surprised if they will sell you JUST the power supply... My fear is you will get the "buy the next higher assembly" meaning shell out for a COMPLETE new housing. Sorry for being ZERO help here.
