Recieved my L1T v2 RB80 today. Been playing with it for several hours, actually used it for some work too. The bottom line: Nice light.
Pro's:
BRIGHT!
Fits well in the pocket
LED well centered
Beam quality excellent - nice beam profile, just right divergence angle (not too wide or narrow a spill), great color, just ever so slightly warmer than neutral.
Switch, although a little light of touch for me, is quite nice. Of course I would rather have a forward clicky but, still nice.
Efficiency is great (would it be even better with the RB100?)
Non-flashlight nuts always have AA batteries around, rarely deal with CR123's.
Good AA NiMh's are cheap.
Finish seems great. Yes, threads needed cleaning but no big deal.
Gets only warm, not hot, when run on high (in hand, so some heat is conducted out)
Interface is ideal - simple as can be. I can hand it to my wife to use and she doesn't roll her eyes. Two levels is enough for most people. Levels are very well chosen but, yes, low could go a touch lower. Okay make me a three level with a simple three position control and no bells and whistles interface... please, pretty please. I love how you can leave the bezel control in either position and then click it is on the level you desire.
Cons:
Wobbles when turned on in tail stand position. It stands solid when turned off but, who cares when it is off? This is annoying but my HDS wobbles too and it has never been a serious problem.
Needs some more texture - it can be a bit slippery when wet. Knurling would be nice.
Should be a bit thinner. Seems like it could have been made a smaller light and work nearly as well. Does not need to be as thick. Still, somewhat less noticeable than my HDS when tucked into a pocket.
As you can tell, I like it. This will probably be my new outdoor light. I wish other manufacturers would produce similar, k.i.s.s. style two-stage lights.
JMHO,
John
