Hi folks,

I've read all the threads about gun light recommendation but I'm more confused now than when I started!

I dont mind if I have to fork out a bit of coin but I'm after something small enough to mount on my .223 that will throw a beam out to 350metres with ease! I want to be able to get foxes from way out....
I also want it to be a green light!

I have seen that you can get a green led for the dereelight night master but will it throw this far??
the other idea I had was the Optimus nd50 laser designator, anyone have one of these?
The SmallSun ZY-C10-S that saabluster modifies sounds like it would do the job but would I be able to get that in green?

And if there is nothing that would do this in green what would is my best option in white light??
just tell what is compact, cheap and has the most beast throw and I'll buy it!!! These threads end up with about 96 anwers which leave us noobs scratching out heads lol! Surely someone know what light is the boss haha
Thanks

The Dereelight Nightmaster does throw pretty far. I don't know how far it throws with the Green LED. We are most sensitive to green light so it should throw a good distance. I think Saabluster is holding off on custom mods for now, but you can try to contact him and see if he'll do a green LED mod for you.

If it is gun mounted, I'm assuming you'll want a ~1" diameter body. What's your budget?

:welcome:

Gunner thanks heaps for the reply!

It would be nice to keep the budget between 100-150 but I'll spend as much as if I have to.. As long as it throws insanely
I'm not too stressed about the diameter I should be able to find a way to mount it. Im half considering saablusters tn31 and making up some red and green filters for it!

Adding filters to lights will cut down their output, and white LEDs don't produce much red light, so you would drastically cut down the output. If you need high output in a certain color, then try to get a LED in that color. The problem is that swapping emitters/drop-ins is harder then swapping filters, and carrying multiple lights might not be possible if you are space constrained. Dereelight does claim 800m beam (though the most I've seen on a review is ~500m for the red or IR module).

Crelant's 7G5 V2 might be another option, along with the Thrunite Catapult. Selfbuilt has reviews on all these lights, so you can look at his reviews too.

Well, if weapon lights were to be quantified, the Jetbeam BC25 was primarily designed to be a weapon light.

Might want to check that out.

Thanks again gunner I'll check those other suggestions out and selfbuilts reviews. I know what you're saying about the filters, I'm pretty sure at this this stage I'll get the dereelight with the 3 LEDs

Thanks for the reply RoadkillI did look at the bc25 it's a pretty awesome light for the size however I have already got the elusive wildlife XLR 250 which i think is pretty similar in performance to it by what I can gather. I'm after a second light though that is just for getting a narrow spot out really far
