2 reported venting with flame incidents, according to that notice... the expense of the recall, and the resultant damage to their reputation, will be almost ruinous. It would be very interesting to find out exactly where they cheaped out on these. Bad QC in the cells, the circuitry or the assembly?I'm honestly surprised that this is still an ongoing problem, but this recall was just issued by HP for 70,000 notebooks.
That's got to be a big expense considering shipping, replacement costs, etc.
I'm sure most owners won't hear of this recall, and this is more a CYA and/or Govt. mandated requirement...even though they characterize it as a "voluntary" recall.[FONT=Arial,Helvetica,Geneva,Swiss,SunSans-Regular]Sold at: Computer and electronics stores nationwide, hp.com and hpshopping.com from August 2007 through March 2008 for between $500 and $3000.
