I am looking for the brightest, long throw, focused beam light, that I can carry around in my pocket for everyday use. My budget is around $200. But for the right light I can be flexible. I was considering the ARC LSHF-P, before they went out of business. Any comments or comparisons you can give me will be greatly appreciated.

lionheart if ya can find one.perhaps check bst .if ya cant find lionheart perhaps the hds that are comeing out.but i recomened trying to find lionheart welcome to cpf

Welcome to CPF NewGuy /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink2.gif (Bart is sure to come around with his big pic of a guy saying welcome)
200$ is a lot of money and I think that it should be spent wisely. For throw, you might go for a surefire. Are you looking for an Incan or an LED? For LED, people here might suggest a U2. 6 different light levels, bright, slightly long, but a great light. Highest is 90 lumens I think. I dont know too much about it. Its found Here Slightly more than 200$ though /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/broke.gif For Incan, you might want to start out with an E2E. About 95-100$. Its HA III, 60 Lumens for little over an hour, small, and inobtrusive. Its found Here. Actually, it depends on how bright your light has to be. So forget what I just said. Choose between LED or incan, how bright, durability, etc. Then I think you might want to start going into specifics.

As far as LED vs Incan, I guess it does not matter. Battery life really is not an issue either, since I will mostly be using it for 1-5 min at a time. I am more interested in the size and brightness/lumens. After searching around a little the brightest I could find was the Surefire 6P,G2, and C2 at 120 lumens at about 5" long. But I believe this may be a little bulky for the pocket and everyday use.

Hmm I think someone on this forum was able to do a mod where they fit a P60 LA into an E series light. Since a P61 (120 lumens version) is same size as a P60, it might be possible. Its a shame there is no high output lamp assembly available for E series lights.

Welcome!!

Agree w/ raggie, LionHeart would be the "best" pocket carry, IMO. Endeavor has a very nice and very bright Aleph 1 listed
Click Here I have a "Gold Nitrided" and a Bare Al, polished, much like the one listed.
Believe it or not, this light is only 3.5" long with a great head, great throw with the LE offered. Peruse the "McGizmo" section to get a feel for these neat lights!

I'd say that my LH is just as pocketable as a G2.

How much throw do you want?? The way physics works when I mess with things, the bigger the head and reflector, the more throw you're going to get, but that also makes it harder to carry. An Aleph3 would be a great option, for example, and everything is easy to carry except the head. .

How big is your pocket??? I love my LionHearts I love my G2's SL TL3 is a great thrower but the head is larger than LH or G2 the SF C3 is a great light for me but it is longer than others, hard to try to answer this one I know buy them all don't always work so a few more guide lines might help.

All good info guys, keep it comming. What other guidlines do you need. I am looking for a good throw but at the same time I dont want a 4" head on it either if you know what I mean. What is the lumen output of the LH?

How about a Surefire M3? That should be a very long throwing incandescent light. You can later add a turbo-head to it, or you could add a KL6 LED head to it. The KL6 is a pretty far throwing, very bright, LED. (If you decide you want to go LED for the runtime, then just get a SF L6 - this is an M3 body with a KL6 head.) It's a pretty versatile platform, and it's still "pocketable", at least if you have really big pockets. (I carry it in my cargo pants without any trouble.) Compared to some of the lights we like around here, it's a great big honkin light. However, whenever I show it to my non-flashaholic friends, they invariably comment on how small and lightweight it is. The retail price on these lights is out of your price range by $50 or so, but you can often find 'em for less. If it makes any differnce to you, it's supposed to be easy to use this light with a handgun. (I've never tried - but I carry it in one hand along with my GPSr for long distances with no problems.)

I would suggest an Alphe light, they are what every you want them to be lights. Just plain awsome. Unfortunantly I don't have one yet (thanks to charlie, Andrew and the other builders)

I did a little research on a mod where someone put a P61 inside an E series light. Before he stated that he needed a lot of throw, and was only going to use it for a few minutes. Here is the thread about the P60/P61 mod I posted in incan section. link to thread

How about a SL Strion?
< $100, pocketable, out-throws any light in the same size class, RCHARCHABLE.
And then you could also get a PM6 and a SL TL-3 with the leftover money.

Thanks for the info.

Surefire E2e will do everything you are asking in the trimest most carryable package.

It is also the most versatile, with both a lower power/longer running lamp available or an Led head if you decide to go that direction.

The other alternative is to buy a Surefire L4 (led version of the E2e) and later get the Head for the Incandescent lamps 25 lumens or 60 lumens.

If you've got $200 it's the very best way to start in my opinion. If you never buy another flashlight you'll have an outstanding light from the most prestigious manufacturer out there. If you do stick around and buy more products you'll most likely end up buying an E2e or L4 anyway so why not start out with the best. Either way it's a win/win for you.
