Well I bought another beauty today. This one being a convertible lego type torch which will give me the best of both worlds. I can use either 2xAA's in it or just 1x CR123 battery in it. When the torch is fully assembled it will take 2xAA's and when the middle portion is removed than it will accept 1x CR123 batery. The torch is branded UGSB P12 but I'm 100% sure its the same lot that make the MX Power and probably some other ones out there as well as for eg the MTE as you'll probably noticed while alot of them have different brand names their bodies still look similar.
I havent tested this baby in darkness as yet but did point it onto the celing in th shop (mind you there was lighting in the shop) but she projected a strong white beam onto the ceiling. There were two left in the shop and when I switched them both on, one of them had a slightly more whiter LED light than the other, thought the other was white I found it had a very slight tinge of yellow in it but this was only noticable and picked up if you shone the second one which seemed to be more brighter and whiter, so I went for the seond one instead.
Now I'm not sure what LED this uses but here again I'm presuming Luxeon as I've found Luxeon LED's to be bit more whiter than Nichia. The LED is a 3 watt and give out quite a pleasant throw, but like I said I havent tested it in pure darkness. Also the bean is clean and theres non of this centre spot mark like what you'll probably get in some other systems. The unit is also waterresistant/dustproof and as usual made of aircraft alluminium. Also it features a rear tactical type press switch. I'm sure there are many torches like this out there but just badged with a different brand.
If I can find a picture or one equivalent of it I'll post it here.
