Another Power Outage

At about 0200 EST, the power went out here. I only noticed cause my UPS started beeping. I grabbed my Legend LX to check for downed lines and did not see any. Then I called the automated outage reporting number for First Energy.

After I made my report, I got out some of my lights:

Krill Extreme 360 Green for the upstairs hallway.
Krill Regular 360 White for the downstairs to see the stairs.
Eveready 2 LED Folding Lantern for the back bathroom (for my mom).
Radio Shack 3D Focusing Krypton with LEDCorp 5mm LED bulb for the kitchen table (light for kitchen area).

If it was just myself, I would not need to do this, as I routinely wear a headlamp (current favorite is BD Moonlight Pro).

Power came back on at 0340 EST. Duration of outage was 1 hour and 40 minutes, in which time the house temperature dropped from 68 degrees F to 62 degrees F.

Area was at least one block, and likely two or more, as the transformer is on our block and handles a minimum of 2 blocks.

First Energy was on the ball this time, and they probably had to wake up the on-call line crew. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

At least it gave me a chance to use some of my lights for a useful purpose, rather than the usual playing with, er, testing, er, you get the idea. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I just had one of Houston Looting and Plunder's famous "blips" (that once killed my Hard drive!).

Thanks to UPS that never bothers my 'puter any more!

But I'm reminded to put my monitor on UPS...

The next time the power goes out in my neck of the woods, I think I will get out all of my flashlights that have batteries in them and place them in one room, pointing up towards the ceiling, and seeing if they are all together as bright as a standard lamp.

Thanks for replying, guys! My monitor is a generic 15 inch TFT flatpanel that draws only 25 watts. It is connected to the UPS side of my UPS, as is the computer and a power strip with the cable modem and printer.

My one friend was over here on Wednesday, and gave me a 'gift': a cold. He didn't have symptoms until friday. This one spreads super easy: you only need to be in the same room. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Oh, those Krill sticks did real good.

Careful not to blind yourself. On another note, someone needs to come up with an official "torch tester" sun glasses. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif
