Well, got a PD-S in the mail today. So I figured, I bet I'm not the only one who wants to see how the Mizer stacks up to the regular PD-S. (McLux PD with Seoul P4 emitter.)

For those who do not know, the Mizer runs at 300mA on high, while the PD-S (Non-Mizer) runs at 525mA on high.

Now how do you tell two identical lights apart from one another..... I did a lil surgery to separate the two....
Mizer has green trit, Non-Mizer has a bigger, longer blue trit. Had to mill a lil bit to fit her in there. :green:

OK onto the beamshots. I have done better beamshots, but oh well, I aint going back out there!

Indoor comparisons, some like to see both lights in the same pic to compare, so here ya go. Mizer is on the left, non-mizer on the right.

On low:

On high:

OK, onto the outside beamshots, leeping both lights in the same pic for the first one, then single lights in the rest.

Trees are about 60 feet:

OK, new target! I usually go for the shed, but today, I aimed each light at the bottom of my BAT-HOUSE pole. About 175 feet.

Conclusion:
If I had to pick only one, I would gp with the Mizer. While slightly dimmer than the non-mizer, it has twice the runtime. Luckilly I dont have to pick one, these are great lights.

Thanks for the pics PSM! Awesome work!

I love my Mizer and I really want to get a Mule. (Only McGizmo fans will understand that sentence :naughty: )

PSM, you've done it again! Another great beam to beam shootout between lights that I'm very interested to see compared. Those outdoor shots were key to seeing visible differences in ways that the wall shots didn't reveal. Looking at the results, the non-mizer still rules for me, but as you said, you don't have to choose!

Awesome PSM! Well, as is tradition, I'll get an animated GIF in a few minutes. :)

Here's the animated GIF! Each frame is set to 2 seconds... let me know if you want it a little bit slower or faster!

This makes me want a Mizer... THANKS A LOT! :grin2:

 Thanks for the beamshots! I've noticed the hotspot on regular PD-S is bigger than the mizer one on mine.

As PSM stated, I rather take the mizer one too. I consider the regular drive level pocket rocket for me...

Awesome shots !!!
I'll put the gif in the FAQ for all those Mizer-Wheenies ... :nana:

Great work, PSM! This is so helpful for everyone, Thanks! :goodjob:

This is probably your most fascinating shootout to date, PSM, because it takes the benefits/tradeoffs of Mizer vs. Non-Mizer out of the theoretical and into the real world. What's even more interesting is the divided reaction over the same set of photos. Some see the dimmer output of the Mizer as well worth the added runtime. And then there are the rest of us who just know better! ;-)

I see it this way ... the Mizer is reasonable. But the non-Mizer gives all of us in an urban light-polluted environment the chance to have way more fun :D

Your welcome guys. I'm probably gonna have another shootout when I get my 27LT-S.

The 27LT-S is driven @ 917mA, I *think* the mizer 27LT-S is driven at 525mA. So my Ti S27-C can play Mizer, since it is driven at 525mA.

So my next shootout will be the 27LT-S vs. the Ti S27-C.

Awesome! Keep up the good work with these beamshots and stay away from runtime charts (because yours REALLY SUCK :grin2: ).
