ANSMANN ENERGY 16 BATTERY CHARGER

it looks like cool charger. I never seen it before. It must be new product.

I have one and absolutely love it. It's perfect for the 12 batteries in my Polaris. I alternate between the Triton and the Energy 16. The triton is more convienient, but I like to get all the batteries balanced about every third charge, plus this way I can tell if one of the batteries is starting to go south on me.

I also like how it not only charges, but also reconditions the batteries. I couldn't tell you if $137 is a good price, but I don't regret the $137 I spent for mine.

I had bad experience with it. I recommend it only after a little modification.

It is indeed two 6-slot charger in one case.

At the beginning everything was ok. After some months some slots were not charged full, they stopped e.g. 1,28V or did not went into charging at all. Others were overcharged with the 700mA rate all night. Killed most of my rechargables. Apparently the charger did not realize -dV of batteries.

Then I took apart the charger.

There were four 4-pin connectors between the boards inside, that could not cope with the big current that was needed for charging all the cells at a time. Parts of the white plastic connector became dark, because of the heat generated by the big contact resistance of the connector.

So I bypassed these connectors and soldered the wires directly in.
Since then it worked again, now I am happy with this charger again.

I have the Ansmann Energy 8, but don't use it. Within two weeks after I got it the light on the first chamber quit working. I didn't want to operate blind, so quit using it. For it's expense, I expected more. I suppose I could have sent it back to Thomas Distributing, but I seldom mess with returns by mail. I base my evaluation on just one unit, but it's sufficient for me to avoid them.

i owned the Ansmann energy 8
I have old 4AH NiCd D Size rechargables. Unfortunately they weren´t fully charged!
after 4 cycles the Chargetime decrease over one hour.

i also don´t recommend it because doesnt have a capazity check and you don´t know how long they were charged!!!
In my Test they charg 4 hours after 4 cycles only 3 hours.... of course with less capazity.

Maybe take a look at the Conrad 2010 charger.

By the way this chargers aren´t really new ;-)
the Conrad 2010 exist since dec. 1999 here in "old" Europe 😉

I've had an Energy 16 for a round a year now and the only problem I have encountered is slots #2 and #7 L to R seem to take longer than the others before the full charge LED comes on. It happens too often to make me think the cells that I put in at random have something to do with it. Guess I need to get off my can and send it back to Thomas Distributing, it has a 3 year warranty 🙂

I picked up a few Lacrosse BC-900's several months ago and use them 95% of the time now for charging AAA and AA cells because of the options and display.

@Kelly

same problem with the different charging time here...

Unfortunatley you cannot say that after 3 Hour´s the rechargabeles is full!

You have to check the Capzitiy with chargers like the BC-900 etc...
the Cm2010 is one with C and D Size support too and ~800mA @ 1,2A Discharge load.
