Any new LED mods for E1e?

I've seen the one where people have put a Fenix P1 light engine in the bezel of a E1e. Are there any new LED mods for the E1e that are not quite as destructive to the stock bezel? I'm suprised there isn't brighter 3 or 5mm LED emitters yet. Thinking of picking up a black E1e...thanks for any ideas...

I think the issue with this bezel is that the reflector is integral to it, so any mod requires a method to bore it out to fit an emitter, such as a lathe/mill or good drill press.

E1E-Bezel, Mc20-S reflector (uncut), sapphire lens, SSC-P4,
GD500 converter, homemade heatsink, AWs RCR123 750 mA.
40% brighter than the Fenix P1 mod, 1 h runtime full regulated
(110 min. on CR123A).

KDOG I'm with ya I love the form factor of the E1e but we know it could be better. Just wish there was an easy way

An option with less tear-up, but more expensive:
Use a modded old style L1 Head (Milky L1 if you have or can get one). It fits the E1 nicely and is actually smaller than the E1E head with better contours to fit the hand.

Energie, is that a milkymod!? It's beautiful! How much did it cost and how do I get in line!?

Kavvika, its not a milky mod, its homemade.
But I am shure, milky can do this for you.
The parts are from Photon Fanatic (SSC P4 $10) and from the Sandwich
Shoppe (reflector $18, lens $20, converter $18).

Now if I could just find a L1 head to mod, this would be great. I've been looking for one for over a year, just doesn't happen.

As the old L1's get cheaper on ebay it makes it more possible, but then there is nothing to do with the L1 body and tail.

Whoa, I need that setup! How did you make the heatsink? You drilled out the original reflector I see. I am thinking about using the Downboy 500 converter. Can we see a shot from the front? Beamshot? Thats just awesome...

Well, I already have 2 USVOI Seoul emitters on the way from PhotonFanatic and I'm going purchase a black E1e next payday. So now I just need to fabricate a heatsink and get a driver board. I want one that will run off a primary or a RCR 3.7v.The GD500 looks good. Any other driver board suggestions?

Energie: Are the parts in the head loose or did you epoxy them all together? And does the heatsink fit down inside the battery tube or does it rest on the top edge?

KDOG3:
The center-ring is epoxied with 0,2 mm distance between reflector and
emitter to prevent damage. The reflector and the heatsink are loose.

I think I'm going to get a GD400 for longer runtime. I'm definetly interested in the heatsink design. How much do you think it cost to make?

Energie......that is INCREDIBLE work!!!!

That is my idea of a PERFECT E1e mod.. I have always loved the small bezel of the E1e.

Would you have any for sale? I would LOVE a black E1e with that!

KDOG3:
I don't know the costs for making this heatsink. But this mod is a little bit tricky because of the little space in the E1e head. Exact machining is required. Especially the center-ring is not easy to adjust. And these E1e-heads have little differences (diameter etc.). There are some members here on CPF with excellent work. Perhaps they can help you.

BTW, you like long runtimes? Then have a look here:

By far the cheepest mod (Super MJ Led $4,50) with the longest runtime, I have ever made.

And as a backup drop-in, it works nice.

Thanks for your kind words. I am sorry, I don't sell this light. Its only a hobby for me.

E1E with Lumens Factory EO-E1R and an RCR is much better than any LED configuration for high quality bright light. If you're looking for runtime, then things are different.

Ampdude:
You are right, but there are not much visible differences.
The E0-E1R is ratet with 90 lm.
I only have a Lumens Factory H0-E2A, which is rated with 110 lm (2 cell).

Distance 1 Meter, brightest part of the beam:
E1E - mod. (SSC P4 at 3,3 V 500 mA): 3720 lx
E2D with H0-E2A (at 6 V 1100 mA): 4920 lx
(Aviator A2 on high: 2720 lx)
