What do you think about it?
Despite its non so efficient Osram Golden Dragon and its lack of modes...

Good desing, good light power

What do you think?

I'm a total noob (first post!), but I got the AA-s1 and the Tank007 E08 on recommendations from this forum. All I can tell you is that I like it, but I'm obviously no expert. It is more of a flood light then the tank. I would say the beam on the AA-S1 is a little yellow compared to the tank. The tank unfortunately flickers and I have to tap it. The AA-S1 is rock solid. I personally like 1 mode. The finish is nice too. It has quickly become my night grilling flashlight, which is something I do a lot of.

I'm pleased with mine for what it is. The Golden Dragon has a nice smooth beam. I'm sure you can measure some efficiency difference between the Golden Dragon and the latest, highest binned crees, but it is a modern efficient LED. It's not like the older 5mm's or Luxeon I's or something. I picked the AA-S1 over one of the Akory 106 variants because of the Golden Dragon. If you don't like it or decide to change it later, the light comes apart easy and could be modded.

Finish quality is good for a bargain light, but a step lower than Fenix or Quark. I'd say it's like a Romisen with very coarse threading. The color not being black hides some of the scratches and chips. I dropped mine a few months ago and broke the driver. A little bit of work with the dremmel and it can fit most of the 17mm drivers from DX. I put a 5-mode in mine and it works great.

Gotta say I love mine. Run it with some 14500s and it has been my EDC for over a year. Dropped it, kicked it across the parking lot, stepped on it, still works fine. :D

Occasionally pulls double douty as my work light when I forget the other lights...
