I looking for a small pocket light and wondered if the Peak Shasta is OK. I looking for output similar to a AAA cs.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

i too have been looking for input on the shasta also for a long time

I think RobynS would be happy to throw some light on that "???". Send her a private message (a link below your username at the top right corner of your screen). Hope you get needed info soon from her.

I have one with a single snow led. It is not as bright as a CS, but has a much whiter beam. The output level looks like about like a Fenix EO.
It works and is a nice light.

I have a 3 LED version that I've had for years. I think it was even before the "snow" LEDs. It's a little dim but quite useful. I keep it on my work keyring.

with the small N interstate(kan/gp..etc) batteries, since the
green plastic shroud extends past the negative terminal, you really have to
crank down the head to get it to light up. putting a small blob of solder on
the negative end of the battery brings it back into normal operation.

My Shasta 3 led has a better beam than the three led Matterhorn IMHO and the Leds aren't as squashed together, making the light look quite a bit nicer. FYI, the Shasta heads also fit on the Baltic bodies thereby giving you numerous battery options.

I think the N-cells (at least the NiMH ones) are rather inefficient. They are only a little shorter than a AAA cell but have abotu 25% of the capacity.

Are there other lights that use the N-cell battery?

In the Peak lineup, the Baltic can also use the N cell bodies.

There are other manufacturers that use N cell also, if that's what you're asking. TnC uses them.

My Shasta is a bit brighter than my old old Arc-AAA, and the color of the light is more useful. I imagine the 3-LED version would be better still, though a little longer.

I see the beauty of the Baltic the other way around, I changed from an N body to a AAA body so I could use a Lithium AAA . N batteries are alkaline and leak and the lithium primary gives me much greater battery life and isn't subject to leaking. I have the Baltic on my keys and change the battery less than once a year. Does the AAA body fit the Shasta?

fyi....pacific and shasta are NOT lego compatible like the baltic and shasta- even though they are both AAA bodies-for what it's worth.
