Apples to apples, AA lithium primaries have more stored energy than CR123 primaries...
Way off topic, but maybe what the world needs is a good alkaline two-thirds A cell.

The TK-30 will be the 4xCR123 model and the TK-50 will be its bigger brother-- sporting a 3x18650 battery holder...Okay, if this is the TK-40 then is there also a TK-30 or did they skip a number after TK-20?
I hope you meant a Fenix - Light!?!?!?!We will be getting another light this week that uses the mce that has the option of 1x18650, 2x18650, 2x123, 4x123.
IMO, a perfect analogy. It's similar to when audio equipment mfrs state frequency response as
"20-20,000 Hz
38-16,000 Hz +/- 3 dB"
Some of the less-reputable companies provide only the first specification: 20-20,000 Hz, so that unsuspecting buyers think "Oh wow, these $5 headphones are just as good as your $200 headphones (which have a specification of 20-20,000 Hz +/- 3 dB)"
JetBeam is honourable enough to provide both specifications.
IMO, an excellent philosophy.Evaluate a light for what it is, not for what you want it to be.
Hi everybody,
@4sevens:
Man ... you (and Fenix) got me once again! I am writing that I would like to see a multi - die light with 3 or 4 x CR123 and just some time later, you post the following:
I hope you meant a Fenix - Light!?!?!?!
If so, would you please give us some more information??? Maybe the series (TK - series / PD - series / a hybrid like I mentioned)?????
I will have a very close look for that light and I am already thinking about getting it! Even after I have promised my wife, NOT to get another light in the first half of 2009! But hey - I am going to be a flashaholic! And I always need some toys to play around with!
Bye,
Stephan
7777 has already announced the ACE, besides it doesn't use 2x 123. I think it's another Fenix.i think he's talking about tiablo
It can't be the Tiablo then, as the ACE requires at least 2x18650 to run the emitter. Not at this point. We will be getting another light this week that uses the mce that has the option of 1x18650, 2x18650, 2x123, 4x123. 🙂

1X18650 is not good at driving MCE IMO.
In what way(s) does the 1x18650 fall short of good when driving the MCE? I have a ElektroLumens EDC-P7 with a MCE LED that I can't fault (it makes everyone that turns it on at night utter oaths). Go ahead and break my heart if you can. I like my eyes open. Additional pics of this light on page 14 here: http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?t=182079&page=14

Neoseikan means that driving a MCE under only one 18650 is not that good idea, assuming that you need a decent runtime and output. It is difficult for most 18650 to keep driving for an hour@2 amp the led and with bad regulation. We did not take into account the efficiency of the driver as long as the discharge rate of a 18650 at 2 amp and the voltage drop of the battery by draining such a high amp.
Now, if someone needs half an hour for a flashlight with a MCE@3amp, that another story.
Like I already said, 7777 already announced the ACE; the new light is to be announced.Perhaps this one https://www.4sevens.com/product_info.php?products_id=692&osCsid=15dcd92eebb9e21a635b199b32693aca In the Dealers announcment thread the claim that it runs on 1 18650 or other combos is made...think the link just left out that option.
