I was looking at this - http://www.meanwelldirect.co.uk/product/HLN-80H-30A/HLN-80H-30A/default.htm

Or this - http://www.meanwelldirect.co.uk/pro...tching-LED-Power-Supply/LPF-90-30/default.htm

Or this - http://www.meanwelldirect.co.uk/pro...tching-LED-Power-Supply/LPF-90-36/default.htm - not sure with this one if the led array will just draw the ~30v needed or if the driver will push the full 36v through the led?

Its going to replace a 250w halogen security light. (hoping i can still use the motion sensing etc from the security light). Will probably have an active cooling solution.

Thanks for any help.

This LED needs to be driven by a Constant Current source.

The current drawn by an LED can increase four fold if you increase the current by 10 %, so current control is only practical way to control power drawn by an LED.

The first one is just a Constant Voltage Supply, so it can't be used.

The LED is rated at 2.8 amp at 30 volts. The LPF-90-36 is rated at 2.5 amp over a range of 21 to 36 volts, so it's the best choice for a long LED life. It will supply whatever voltage is needed to feed the LED with 2.5 amp.

Thanks. The first one's data sheet mentions CC if output power is 60-100%. Also in spec sheet - "Output voltage and constant current level can be adjusted through internal potential meter." ? So not just a CV supply? I dunno, my eyes are bleeding looking at power supplies lol.

The LPF-90-36 was the one I was probably going to choose anyway so it should be good then.

The LPF-90-36 is the only one that will drive the array.

I didn't see anything about adjustable current or voltage. Some Mean Well supplies have trim pots to adjust either but I don't see it on this model. Basically you'd just solder the power supply to the +- on the array and plug it in. Obviously after having attached to a really big heat sink of course. Active cooling will likely be mandatory

Ok, trying to buy the Meanwell LPF-90-36 in the UK. Its like getting blood out of a stone!! Meanwell direct arn't replying to my quote requests nor any of the meanwell suggested suppliers. RS has them for £100 which is way more than they should cost 🙁

Anyone in the UK know a good place for higher power meanwell drivers please? I'm about ready to leave the bloody halogen up there lol.
Thanks for any help.
