Hello.
Got bunch of these from a friend.
At 4.2 volts, red light keeps flashing and there's no output. At 6V green led comes on and there's an output (classic 5 mode). At 8.4V board emits smoke and dies. Any ideas what this could be and what are the specs?

Interesting, sorry I can't help identifying it but like opening up things to look at them and try to figure them out.

Is the 14-pin SOIC on the top marked? Can't see any but might be the angle. Often, markings are removed to (try to) protect design from copying. Beside it is a 2048-bit serial EEPROM which is probably used to store settings.

Also not sure about the two 8-pin chips on bottom, appear to have glue or something on top.

SOIC is not marked. This is some generic chinese MCU.
8 pin chips are deliberately scratched, to avoid reading of the model. One of them as I believe, is mosfet driver.
