I think The scene in Chronicles of Riddick where he shaves his head with some nasty motor grease and a home made knife really set it in my mind that its badass to cut your own hair.

His "personal grooming appliance", as he calls it.



Of all the parts he played, Vin Diesel is best as Riddick.
