Anyone gotten ahold of Carley Lamps lately?

Their website is up and functional (relative to their preferred standard of 90s-esque webdev) but I haven't been able to get a response to an email. I've even called them but it goes straight to voicemail which is unsettling because they're historically more responsive to business over the phone. Maybe I'm just calling too late in the day?

I emailed them about 6 months ago about purchasing some CL1499 bulbs. They were responsive but the cost was more than what I could swing. Contact info below,

Interestingly I was asking about 1499 lamps too (plus some others). No promises but perhaps by powers combined something could be arranged.

Based on this thread it seems like they've been hard to get for a long time - I'm curious what they quoted you. There have been group buys on bulbs before, we used to have a guy that bought hotwire bulbs in bulk to sell on CPF. He's passed away but I still have some new WA1185s from him.

I wonder if Mark at Lumens Factory could be of any help, they still make incandescent drop-ins for SureFire.

His stuff is really solid but the fact that they're xenon lamps only as opposed to xenon-halogen makes them just shy of what I'm really wanting. It's been brought up before and he has directly confirmed that his equipment and tooling is for manufacturing strictly xenon lamps. The initial brightness is superb (along with fitment and focus) but the tungsten darkening as the hours stack up drives me up the wall.

When you get into halogen lamps you need more advanced gas mixing equipment (careful balance of xenon, oxygen, and corrosive bromine/iodine compounds) and there's also an additional cryogenic vacuuming step right before tipping-off the envelope to finally seal it. The aluminosilicate refractory glasses are also much less forgiving during processing (relative to quartz or soft glasses) with flame torch heating on account of their weird interactions with the flame exhaust chemistry. I didn't plan on ranting about how much harder it is to make subminiature halogen lamps, but there it is anyway

It was 50 pcs minimum at $12 and some change per bulb
That's non-trivial, but not as devastating as I was worried it would be. If I can get them to acknowledge my existence I may see if I can arrange something. Was this specifically the xenon version or the xenon-halogen version? Back in the day at least you had to specify "CL1499H" in order to get the halogen version.

They moved from California to Florida and company regulation is changed.

WA bulbs were discontinued and not sold anywhere anymore.
Carley Lamp still there but with very strict regulation.

Mark does not have equipment for halogen bulbs but can still do Xenon only.

Halogen version of 1499 was custom made for another CPF member.

I responded back to the email that I received from them to see if the bulbs were still available to be made.

"Minimum order was 50pcs and pricing was $12.24, lead time 3-4 weeks"

That works out to $612 + tax & shipping. Would have to sell them at $15 each to cover risk and expenses. Not sure if there is that much demand.

I just got an email back from Claudia saying that they are still available to be made. I'm willing to help out in anyway that I can but I can't swing that cost. If a few people here want to work together or put their money together to get them ordered/made let me know. Feel free to PM me.

Best thing to do is start a thread with examples of how to use this bulb (battery combination & type of lights), the lumen rating, voltage rating, and asking who would be willing to buy one or more at $15 each....maybe $18 including shipping to members or a discount for quantity.

Fivemega would know the types of setups they could be used in.

I found Litho123's thread (posted Archive.org link in his old thread in this section)
with his last prices and specs of the CL1499

Bi-Pin Carley H1499: 7.2v 1.84a @ spec (370 b-lumens)
... only (2) for 23.00 .... plus shipping
