anyone know about medical stuff?

I recall a nurse telling me that the best automatic blood pressure machine is less accurate than the worst sphygmomanometer, other variables notwithstanding.
I also have been shocked how many medical assistants, and some nurses (RN, and LPN's) that do not even know how to take a BP properly.

Sorry, I rant a bit when someone calls me a newbie for dealing with and having to study up on medical issues just in order to stay alive almost as long as it takes a doctor to get a PHD. I'm dealing with a rare disease, Hashimotos Encephalopathy. It's likely rare because almost all of the patients die before the doctors figure out what it is. I've had to treat myself over the counter and figure out the diagnosis while waiting for doctors to figure out what to do.
With respect, your specific medical issues and self-taught medical information (which I applaud) should not be mapped onto raggie33's scenario. None of us know his complete medical/family/social/psychiatric/past history, etc. Practicing medicine often requires initial diagnostic suppositions, and drilling down over time after tests, disease progression, and medical responses are observed.

While there are mediocre physicans and specialists, what you ascribe as "doctor's being idiots" speaks volumes about you. A difficult patient case can many times be related to an unusual (rare) diagnosis, gray-zone test results, frustrating treatment regimens, and a patient who sabotages their own care.

I have not seen enough comprehensiveness or taking a careful medical history in any of your posts for raggie33 to pay any attention to you.

i like geing much infowe still have no docs in my town i have a nurse who does doc stuff

We've heard the old adage, misery loves company.

We should all know the power of suggestion.

Placebo medication can be very successful, even when people know it is a placebo. The reverse (saying that certain things/behavior are harmful) can damage horribly.

It may also be instructive to remember that member HoF has written that no one should become an environmentalist because the world is doomed, and will end soon (something like that).

Way to go LuxLuthor.

My first endocrinologist said all my symptoms were caused from me being too fat. I had recently lost my job doing electrical work where I was working overtime every week averaging 56 hours a week and teaching and taking martial arts classes on the side. I was a 4th degree black belt in Tang Soo Do. My second endocrinologist realized that the weight gain was caused by low metabolism from Hashimotos. If I had just listened to the first doctor, I would have died.

My last gastroenterologist tested me for Crohn's which came back borderline. Instead of retesting as the test said to, he did an M.R.I. and ultrasound of the abdomen which test too high to scan intestines. It was like pulling teeth to get C.T. of abdomen and pelvis approved. Allergic to dye so they had to do it without contrast. Didn't give enough clarity in results. Had to get an M.R.I. of abdomen and pelvis. Gastroenterologist lied about putting in correct order. Only put in for abdomen. Had to go around him to primary for abdomen and pelvis scan. When I got it, lab tech at imaging place illegally changed it back to abdomen only. Had to call insurance company who informed me they broke the law with a denial of care. Went back to imaging place with this info. and they put the order through finally. Ended up in the emergency room with my gut completely blocked up. They shoved a finger up my end, gave me a laxative, a corticosteroid cream, said I had hemorrhoids, and sent me home with just doing some quick bloodwork (no scans of intestines, no seeing a gastroenterologist, no admitting me into the hospital).

Had to self treat with DHEA to naturally increase cortisol production assuming it was Crohn's which healed gut in two month enough to do colonoscopy. Test showed stool in cecum, a sign it might be Crohn's. Doctor doing procedure recommended a virtual colonography to get a clear diagnosis. Owner of building canceled that order at follow up appointment. For the last two years, just about everything has been unapproved or canceled from that clinic. All the doctors stopped seeing patients in protest and do procedures only. All my over the counter meds got bounced down to my primary and I had to play secretary between all parties to get my meds. I am just now starting over with a new doctor after giving them over 4 years of grace while they let me remain in pain and did nothing but run me in circles. I have earned my right to call doctors idiots. I have not been a trouble patient. Any other patient would have sued or hit a doctor by now after what they put me through.

As for Raggie, he has indicated that his thyroid levels are off. It's not a stretch to conclude that it could be Hashimotos.

It's ridiculous the hoops folks have to jump through just to even see a doctor. First there's the door charge: $75.oo for me just to be allowed to see the doctor. Followed by: Hurry up, and wait to see the doctor. Sometimes not too bad. Last visit was just over 2 hours after I paid the door charge. (Only good thing about that is that the TV in the waiting room was set to MeTV. Translation: Didn't have to sit through a bunch of modern-day Woke garbage.)

Family doctor retired earlier in 2024. Recommended a new doctor. New doctor is decent, at best. Cares just enough about her patients to be decent, at best. No where near where our family doctor was, in terms of skill or caring about patients. And, her staff is no where near as competent. At first, they couldn't even process a simple online renewal form for my elderly mother who receives State-sponsored free transportation to and from all doctor's appointments. Claimed our primary physician doesn't do that. Absolute BS! I make one phone call, medical operator understands the problem, tells me it will be taken care of. Later in the day, get the call-back. It's done! My elderly mother contacts the Transportation service, yup all good; makes the appointment for next week's pick-up.

Meanwhile our primary care doctor's staff gave my poor elderly mother the run-around for an hour. Had her calling all sorts of places she didn't need to. Absolutely ridiculous the type of unprofessional and moronically incompetent people work at doctor's offices. This conclusion wasn't reached due to one example. The above is simply the latest in a long line of examples going back decades.

For the scans of my abdomen and eventually pelvis, the imaging place did not recognize that scanning the intestines is necessary in situations where things don't show up on the inside of intestines in a colonoscopy. They would only scan the abdomen in men. Their excuse, "We don't scan that area in men. There are no organs down there." There are intestines. If you have cancer or something wrong in the mesentery, that will show up on a pelvic scan. Because of how they phrased that excuse and the obvious pain I was in where I was supposed to not have pain, because I'm a guy, they made me have to get tested for Klinefelter syndrome to rule that out as a cause of the pain. While waiting for the test results, they tried to deny my order for a C.T. of abdomen and pelvis. I told them that because they said they don't test that area in men, I had to get tested for Klinefelter syndrome. If that test comes back positive, I will file a denial of services lawsuit. That's what it took to get one freaking scan approved. Klinefelter test was negative.

there trying to kill me lol i have the meds same xact meds and they looks complete different. and then i have 2 different meds and they look the same lol

wrist units are not bad in general if used correctly. I have one, I compared it to my regular meter with a cuff, they show slight difference, within around 5mm/hg, not much to be concerned.

I learned 1 lifehack, if you have pains anywhere, or feel really crappy, do not make an appointment to a doc, it may take a while, and even when you get the appointment, a doc needs tests, it will take more time. Go directly to ER, they will do all tests on the spot, you'll know the results within hours.
Few years ago i felt a sharp pain in my left lower side of the abdomen that would come and go, at first i took some otc pills, did not really work, call my GI doc the earliest they could see me was in about a month, i went directly to my local hospital ER, they took blood test, then took me for a cat scan, turns out it was my appendix, in a few hours I was knocked out on OR table. 24 hours after i got there, i was already home with 3 small holes in my abdomen, in 2 months i could not even find scars, one was right inside my bellybutton. If i waited for a doctor appointment, i'd probably die from burst appendix.

Raggie, you need to let go of the past and embrace your future. You are not your father, you are his son. With little exception, I cannot think of one parent who did not wish better for their children than they had. Master your own fate. Sometimes it requires taking a little risk. Risk itself does not come without disappointment, but likewise it can be incredibly rewarded. You consistently sell yourself short in all your self evaluations. You're a smart man, roll with it. Be confident in your decisions, accept what they return and learn from them. Call that chick and take her up on the offer. Worst case, you get some exercise. Best case, you make friends with someone who shares your passions. What develops beyond that truly is FATE.
Tick tock young man. Time waits for no man.

No, it's the very same drugs.
Experienced the same thing myself.
Apparently it's a somewhat common practice in the industry.

That's what I'm guessing. Makes no sense for the same company to just all of a sudden switch their pill shapes. Waste of money.
