I really like the patter/floody output of my KD AAA Seoul Bucklelight. It is a very smooth floody beam and more useful than my P2D Q5 or 6P+XRE Dropin. Those two lights have rings and too much contrast from hotspot to flood. The KD bucklelight gives a very ergonomic pattern which a need for inspection.

But the quality of the threads and lack of an internal spring leave me little confidence in it lasting more than a few months. Are there any other single AAA, AA, or 123A lights with an output as smooth and ergonomic as the bucklelight but with better construction.

Well if you are willing to spend a considerable amount more, look at the Novatac 120 line ($100+). I have both the Novatac and the buckle light and the beams are similar, with the 120 having a slightly more concentrated hotspot. No rings or artifacts of any kind, just very nice spot to spill transition.

I don't have any experience with the Lumapower LM31 / LM33, but since they also have SSC emitters with textured reflectors, the beam should be similar to the Novatac. The good thing is that they are only around $30.

Edit: I almost forgot -- a standard minimag with a Terralux TLE-5EX drop-in (SSC, anyway, not sure about the other emitters) also has a nice floody beam
