There are a few of these lights floating around out there. Very well built with a depth rating of 100meters. Its a pity they only have a 23 lumen LED.... until now!!
The modification is very similar to the IST mod except for a couple of details.
The light is thinner than the IST but strangely enough the LED module had to be built up instead of cut down as in the IST.
I did contemplate using a copper sleeve but instead I just built it up with solder then put it on the lathe to machine it down to the right size.
Stock this light uses 2 AA alkaline cells so 3 volt. This is not enough to get 200 +lumens out of the replacement Cree R2 LED. So instead of AA I chose 14500 Li Ion cells (14mm wide 50 mm long) which are the same size as AA's but 3.7volt each. These are rated at 900mah so I expect about 80 minute run time. The lens is the same as the IST so the beam shape and brightness is also the same.
