I just got my LE. What a nice light. I am going to replace my Photon with it as a buck a battery is cheaper than 4 bucks a change. It took me awhile to see the light.

I searched on O-ring lubricant in the posts and could not find the information.

What is the better lubricant to use on the O-Ring? I have clear silicone lubricant. I thought I saw somewhere someone said to use machine oil??

What is the best? I have a feeling it is going to get some use. I really like it. It is a shame I waited so long to get it

We recommend that you use silicon grease on the o-ring for all of the Arc flashlights.

At one time we where recommending light oil but we found the grease to be better. The oil was running down the threads, soaking into the retainer and causing it to loose its 'stickum'.

Silicon grease is fairly common and should be easy to find. Our local radio shack has a good size tube of it for about $4.

what is the o-ring made of? (silicon or good old rubber)
if it was rubber i believe that petrol based oils would actually hurt the o-ring more then help it...

Will it work for the foam ring too?

One of my Arc-LE is having inconsistent "switch-on" after a few times of twisting to turn it ON and OFF. Maybe the foam-ring is crimping inside the tube as it drags the battery (I can hear the battery moving with the foam-ring) and making it difficult for the battery to make positive contact when I twist the head to turn it ON.

The o-ring is made of "Buna" rubber. I do not recommend you use anything on the foam battery retainer, it will just make it collect dirt. It is normal for it to grab the battery slightly. The spinning action may actually clean the contacts each time you use it. The contact problem may be caused by a crushed battery. Eyeball the postive contact of the battery and see if it has been crushed. Overtightening the light can crush certain brands more than others.

I tried just a tad of silicone and it works like a champ!
I am pretty hard to please...this little light is great. Texas Tactical got it here pretty quickly for $4.oo shipping and $25.99 was a nice price. I sure know I could not have made it for that little.

I am using Duracell batteries and they seem to work perfectly. It is really a nice bright light...hard to believe it is so small.

Hi All,

Would it be wise to oil the threads with the silicon gel too ? Or rather just the O-ring?

I've noticed with other flashlights and the new Arc AAA's that the threads tend to wear and tiny bits of metal grit from the thread accumulate in the grooves when the light is turned on and off a lot. This wear appears sooner with extensive use, of course.

For new lights, I think this grit is normal, as the threads sort of have to be "worn in"?

Thanks guys,

Luca

Putting a small dab of grease on the threads can help them as well. The grit you are talking about is normal.
