Arc LS MOD, Cyan, Royal Blue, Red, GUIDE UP w/pics

Did some mods to several Arc LS seconds i had instead of selling them. Cyan looks damn green. Royal Blue emits some UV. and Red Is bright. RB and Red both have mcfloods.
No other pictures available at the moment =), waiting on some parts to finish them off. Time to grab me a few more seconds and get me one of each color =)

it was quite a easy mod, i'm just waiting for something before i post the rest
Someone else has replaced a luxeon in his arc before.
I am waiting for the confirmation of a cheap replacement part.

I'm curious about the Red, because dat2zip once mentioned that the Arc circuit is similar to a BB in that the Vin must be less than the Vmax for the emitter.

And don't red leds have a forward voltage of about 2.9v or something?

that is if you choose to go on regulation.

if the red luxeon has a higher vf than what the battery supplies...it will regulate.
if the vf is lower, than it will bypass the curcuitry
(right?)

direct drive is fine with me, =), i tend to overdrive my luxeons, so even though it occured to me that the red would be overdriven, it was fine by me.

currently, i thinking about running a red/orange luxeon on a bb500 on a single 123...

give me a day or 2, as soon as i get confirmation that a part needed is available, i will post how to. Its actually quite simple, but shouldn't be done if this part isn't available. One of my arcs had a loose ring and it came right off, lucky me =)

i have confirmed that the parts required are available at a decent price.

Arc Flashlights is selling the "locking rings" that you will need for $2.50 each. Cheapest s/h option is $8.00 for fedex express saver. You can place a order and in the comments section ask for X amount of locking rings and they will charge you a extra $2.50 per ring.

Detailed instructions to come soon.

Basics of how to do this swap, pretty damn easy.

Drill out the ring thats currently in place, drill against the groove part of the internal threading. The Ring should come out with little pressure, after this, the Circuit board with luxeon should come out pretty easy, simply give the LS a hard tap and circuit will come out.

After circuit is out, replace the luxeon by desoldering the old one and soldering on a new one on. Then place it back in, and screw the new locking ring in and your done.

You could replace the optics with a mcflood because the mcflood has a good beam with colored luxeons.

A red luxeon will drop straight in with no problems.

Btw i ordered the locking rings yesterday(tuesday) choose the cheapest shipping method and recieved it today, of course i ordered a LS 2nd to offset the s/h cost.
