Ok, After pouring over the CP forums, I'm convinced - No flashlightaholic should be without an Arc-LS. Since the "Firsts" appear to be sold out until November, is anyone displeased with their "second" or is it worth it to wait on the magical backorder list?

Thanks,
d'mo

D'Mo, I think you can still order your own second direct from Arc - I just checked and their site is still accepting orders @$70 for a full Arc factory second kit (Arc-LS White). Go get it if you still want it!

$ 70.00 now for a "second" - read all the reviews already out there to see what people have said about the light, or wait until November, pay $160.00.

Or wait for who knows how long, before a price decrease.

Based on my ARC AAA LE CPF edition, Arc's first's are really something perfect. For me, I am going to wait.

But go read about all the people that have purchased "seconds". I haven't read any serious complaints!

I don't want to buy a kit. I want two heads, a 123 pack for my keychain, and a 2 AA pack for carying around.

Now if they came out with a 2 123 pack . . .

Well, the white LS seconds have a greenish tint ( at least mine does ). It is still quite bright, and the tint actually makes it better for reading- but pure white is better. The colored SLS are quite nice, cyan in particular.

My factory second LS has no defects that I can see, when i compare the tint of the corona to my Lambda Illuminator, it is of the same color, but just not as blue in the center. In my book, if the beam is centered, I'm happy.

That green tint of the white LS 2nd is my biggest complaint.

Hmmm, you use flashlights when it's dark. When it's dark your night vision probably has/should kick in. Night vision is more sensetive to green/blue than daytime vision. Seems, therefore, that a greenish-white is the best color for a flashlight. White enough to get good color rendition and green enough to have good perceived brightness.

BTW, I love my SLS. Not that I have mine, I'll let others share the joy by not buying any more--until the improvements that Peter has been talking about are implemented and the HD LSs are out. Owwww, HD......

Does anyone that purchased a 2nd, have a single cell AA holder that matches the same color of the LS head? I've purchased 4-2nds so far and each one of them has the single-AA compartment with a much lighter color.

They are all that way.

We have been waiting the longest time on getting the new P-1AA packs in. Probally not for another 3 weeks. So for now, we have the lighter color packs available (but those are going to run out probally next week, then we will have nothing for 2 weeks or so).

I received my BLUE SLS a couple of days ago, and I am very happy with it. This has the new NX-05 narrow beam optics and I am thorougly impressed and amazed with the throw distance. I was able to light up a white licence plate about a block away! The color is a really nice blue with a very bright hotspot. Produces really usable light. I didn't think LEDs could throw this distance! Makes a good combination with a Turquoise EV AAA with its wide beam as a up close utility light and the LS for sheer power.

just got my LS, #158, and i'm very impressed, its like buying a new thunderbird for the price of a focus. its a great little light for the money. thanks peter.

WOW! I just received my Arc-LSs (First run, #361) and I am REALLY impressed. I'm glad I decided not to wait until November. I can't really tell why this is a "second." The beam brightness, centering, and color are all first-rate and blow away most of my other flashlights, including incandescents. Peter has done an excellent job creating a top-knotch flashlight.

Well Done Peter and Thank You!!!

Ditto!

I just received #401(white)and I'm very happy with it.
A slightly lighter color 1AA battery holder is the only flaw I can find. Everything else looks to be first quality in all respects.
THANKS GRANSEE!
