Hi all
This will be my first mod /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I have got my Arc lsh apart with a bit of look & after reading a lot of posts /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Now i need help with which new parts ie:
Which Luxeon to use 1watt or lux 111 ?
i think i'll go with a Fraen lp for the Optic
Arctic Alumina for the thermal compound
& maybe a new glass lens if i can find one
please let me your suggestions

Any help is really appreciated /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

PS i need to find a supplier that will ship to the UK /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink2.gif

I recently did my first Arc LSL mod, too! A 1W high dome LED and Fraen. I think the first problem is obtaining an LED (either 1W or 3W) with a decent color tint. You might need to purchase several to find one you like. I bought several 1W and a III from the Sandwich Shoppe and some 1W from Led Supply. Unless you increase the drive current, I believe you won't get more light from a III but the color might be better. I like the Fraen, but the square beam can be disconcerting. In practice, it's not a problem, even for close work, as the small beam is more evenly and brightly lit than the dot and pattern of the NX05, for me. And I ignored using Arctic Al, since it appeared that they use a sticky pad, so I just reused that. I retained the original plastic lens.

A High binned 1 watt (R) will most likely be brighter than a T binned LuxIII, but
the tint of the Lux III are frequently better controlled. It's current limited, so a low Vf will give you better run time.

An S binned LuxIII was easily twice as bright as the 1 watt in my LSH- standard. I could have used a Q 1 watt for a bit cheaper mod, but I had the Lux III in my tool box.

which do i use /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif
is the star+emitter (1) & Just the Emitter(2) is the Emitter all i need /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif
gadget_lover did you increase the drive current with the LSH

Sorry for all the Questions

Mic asked... did you increase the drive current with the LSH

Nope. Just swapped out the emitter. Go with the SV1K because of the lower Vf. The color of the SY0L should be more pleasant.

If you buy the star you'll need to remove the emitter from the star. Search CPF for instructions on removing the star from the emitter. It's been discussed a lot.

Daniel.

Thanks Daniel
i'll go with the SV1K /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
