Since technology exists how come not make these?

Meanwhile are there any recommendations for NIMH C cells that have slow discharge and good capacity?

Hello Iocheretyanny,

I predict that we will have Eneloop C and D cells just as soon as the point and shoot cameras start using C and D cells in all their models. :)

That would be awesome ... but at this point in time it doesn't look like the demand for such formats is high enough for the makers of these kind of batteries to do it.

It looks like stuffing AA Eneloops into a C or D holder is what's available.

Could you put 3 AA Eneloops in a D size holder, without problems?

I've never done it ... from what i've read not all AA to D holders are made equal.

Some people have certain types that will fit 3 AA to D ... and I believe that there are 4 AA to D holders. I've read that the 4 AA to D may have some problems, the problem not being a totally circular form that may be a problem in some tubes or applications.

YMMV I guess. I just have 1 AA to C and D tubes and they work great.

One nice application for Eneloops or low self discharge type batteries is to have them in holders and sticking them in an mp3 boombox or whatever and then taking it camping where you don't have access to power. Should last a long time. I told my brother about that and he's procuring the materials for this summer of remote camping.

I can think of a few good uses for them, such as in my MAGLITE 6D! That would be awesome, because they hardly self-discharge like other Nimhs. :D
