Are my b90\'s fixed now?

Sorry for the zillion'th b90 thread, but I swear my b90's are working great now.

A couple of my kids (4 & 2 yrs old) borrowed my 8nx. When I finally found it in the basement it was absolutely dead. Had been dead for hours. I've never let it run down that far -- only up to the yellowish color as suggested in the user's guide. And I was worried about polarity reversal, etc.

I charged it up (CK43). The darned thing is holding its charge better than it ever has. I swear. I have no theory to suggest why this might have been good for the battery, but I do have a second one that I decided to run black on purpose, just to try another test case.

Now my second battery seems to be holding its charge for quite a few days (more than 3).

Could someone else try this with theirs and report in? Or could someone who already runs theirs black yet their batteries won't hold a charge please let me know if I'm nuts?

It could be just wishful thinking but it seems so real. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

Hmm does your B90 have the problem of not holding it's charge before you run it down completely?

Yes. Well, they did have the problem. Charge stand-by seems to be far, far better now. Neither of my b90's would hold a charge for more than a few days. One was worse than the other and wouldn't hold a charge more than 2 days. I should have put a mark on that one so I could tell how it fared. Now I don't know which one it was.

Guess what? I did the same thing with one of my B90's I figured its junk anyway and I have the same result after 5 days sitting I got 35 Min. run time. Maybe you stumbled on to something. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif

Best I can think of is that they'll seem run down well before full discharge at the very high currents those lamps draw. Running them down a few times with a C/10-C/5 type load, or less safe but still draining, leaving them on with the SF lamp, would discharge more completely.
But, I would have just guessed cycling would improve capacity, not prevent self discharge...
