I was all but dead set on the h600fw mk ii until I started reading up some more on the armytek. I saw where an amazing review had been written on it during its prototype stage...and I'm sure its a great light based on those results. I would like to know if anyone has used both? Is the hot spot very pronounced on the armytek? Is the body too hard to turn up and down for angle? And is the weight/size a noticeable difference over the zebralight? Those are the three things still weighing on my decision. They're both expensive lights, so I want to get it right. Btw I do mostly alarm and audio/video work (attics, crawl space, insulation, lots of tight and dark places.) Just in case that helps your advice to me.

I'd definitely go for the armytek wizard over the zebra. Better built, better back up...ten year guarantee, best build quality out there. Interface bit more awkward, but easy and flexible after a bit of playing. Easy to rotate in head band. Nice dispersed beam...easy on the eyes. My h600w had very light use and packed in on me, to pay top dollar for only a year guarantee......nope. Trust me the armytek sets the bench mark. Zebra bit lighter n marginally smaller, but it really makes little difference.

Of course there's a 25 page thread on the Armytek headlamp that lists lots of problems as well :) In fact, that's what scared me away from it. Tulip bush, I know you're familiar with the thread and bought one anyway -- glad to hear you're liking it! I might try one -- I do like the 10 year guarantee, and am still looking for that just-right headlamp.

Durability is a big part, too. Of course..so i guess I should take that factor into account. I do tend to hit my head, and smash it in my backpack, and sometimes a pocket. Lol. They are pricey lights and I guess that guarantee does go a long way compared to zl.

Funny thing was Charles, I sent my zebra h600 back for repair to the shop I bought it from in the uk, this was in November 2013, after around 5 months of waiting the shop still hasn't received it back from Zebralight so have just offered me credit. Couldn't resist going for the armytek wizard. It really is a quality piece of kit. Haven't noticed any faults with mine as of yet, but I've only played around the house with it....were the faults just in the first production run ( well that's what a uk dealer told me...so who knows. I think both zebra and armytek are going to have their followers, but for build quality and back up I'd go with armytek everytime...:)

Well if my ZL craps out I will try the Armytek next. Right now I've put the ZL on my Nitecore headband -- a reasonable combination for my purposes.

I lost my first gen Armytek Wizard Pro a few weeks ago (which I use for caving), and now I'm looking to replace it.

I've narrowed my options down to the following two lights: Armytek Wizard XM-L2 (warm) or Zebralight H600Fw MkII.

Which should I buy?

The Wizard is $14 cheaper and comes with a 10 year warranty. The H600Fw weighs less and has more output settings.

Is it true Armytek's claimed lumens are not actual lumens? If so, is the H600fw actually brighter?

Does anyone know if any beamshot comparisons exist for these two lights?

I like the warm tint of my Wizard more, than the neutral my H602w gives me. Output options on a ZL are great. But if I'd to choose, I would go for the wizard. Also because of the claimed warranty.

I am a fan of zebralight but if you have to use the flashlight for caving I advise you Armytek Wizard
(I do not have Armytek)
The reason I recommend Armytek is not a guarantee but it seems more appropriate to use a hard (greater thickness, optical protected from shocks)
Even the biggest key and the harder it is perhaps easier to use with gloves.
The Zebra seems to have brightness levels chosen better and more numerous.
Maybe Zebralight should consider the idea of making the larger versions of 18650 Headlamp, robust and with a bigger key for use in the workplace or otherwise burdensome.
However, there are many cavers who use Zebralight with satisfaction ;-)
(Terrible translation by Google)

A while back I had a Zebralight SC600 Gen2 and after 3....yes THREE drops from my left front pocket it died on me. I now have the Armytek Wizard Pro Wide and it has easily been dropped twice as many times as the SC600 was and it has never missed a beat, heck the anodizing still looks good.
I will admit I like the Zebra UI better but the Armytek UI is perfectly fine.

The Wizard Pro v2 is what I am waiting for, going to be lighter than the current Wizard. The TIR optics and memory of last level is a winner for me. Just being patient...
