What would the price be for a aluminum M.G.A.F.T. with the HA III coating? When will the color be decided?
 
Hi QtrHorse,

I should have a firm quote for anodizing by Friday, possibly sooner. I will have pricing for HA III and normal, black and natural. However, everyone needs to decide on one color and one type in order to keep it from becoming cost prohibitive. So hopefully price, type and color will be decided by this weekend depending on member response. I will PM folks to speed things up. 🙂

Got the quotes on bezel anodizing today and the pricing is as follows:

Black HAIII = $18/ea for a 6-piece lot or $21.50/ea for a 5-piece lot.
Natural HAIII = $16/ea for a 6-piece lot or $19/ea for a 5-piece lot.
Basic Colors HAIII = $19.50/ea for a 6-piece lot or $23/ea for a 5-piece lot.

Black Regular = $13/ea for a 6-piece lot or $15/ea for a 5-piece lot.
Clear Regular = $11.50/ea for a 6-piece lot or $14/ea for a 5-piece lot.
Basic Colors Regular = $13/ea for a 6-piece lot or $15.5o/ea for a 5-piece lot.

Bare in mind that we only have a 5-piece lot put together so far, not including QtrHorse's last post. Also, these prices only work if we can agree on the same type and color. I personally would prefer black or basic color of either type, but other than that I am open. The above pricing is in addition to the list price for the bare aluminum bezel.

Would the black be flat black or glossy? I'm not sure if they can do both or just one.
 
Typically HAIII is more of a flat, semi-gloss finish, were as the regular anodizing offers a much shiner or glossier appearance.

We now have a six piece lot combined with QrtHorse's last post. Now we all need to get on the same page with black of some type. 🙂



I will try to have a sample bezel done in HAIII black to see how it will look and fit. My machinist and I have some concerns about fit tolerance on the threads.

As soon as I get the sample bezel back and it fits good, I would like to get the lot of bezels anodized ASAP.

So it's settled, we move forward with Black HAIII. I will take the sample bezel first thing Monday and try to get a quick turn around.
 
Wow, these are very beautiful bezels!

I would like an F.L.K.D.A.C.F.S, fully polished in SS.
Would also like a 2-225 adaptive o-ring for the KD lens.
Does the stock Mag o-ring work for use with flat (i.e. stock-form) 52mm lenses?

Sample bezel was dropped off this morning for Type III hard anodize. It should be finished and ready for pick up tomorrow late morning. At that point I will be able to confirm fit compatibility of the hard anodized bezel threads with Maglite head threads.

As it turns out the less expensive plating company was unwilling to accommodate me with a sample bezel so I had to go with the more expensive one. Their lot charges are about 20% more so my listed anodizing prices will need to be adjusted. My apologies for causing any inconvenience or frustration for members, but this is my first time anodizing bezels. 😱

I am assuming you want aluminum, but you have 303SST here; please clarify. :thinking:
