Hi all! I need your help. I want to move my business to the Internet. The functionality of the site is almost ready. But I have a question about web design. How important is it that the site has a unique design or can I use a template version? This affects only the appearance or site promotion as well?
And please tell me to create a unique design can hire individual freelancers or better to contact a creative firm to attract a team of experienced designers.

My recommendation is to focus on user experience. I would go with a template. As it's proven tech, and then modify from there. Cheaper and stable.

X2 on the template but add your own style to it.

And go in to your business as a customer from time to time.

To add:
By going in as a customer, be sure to go in on a full sized computer and on a mobile device. Also watch the traffic to see where it comes from using the analytics the template provides. That can provide some insight in how they found out about you.
Don't let the template maker talk you into a bunch of stuff to "triple your profits" or that sort of thing. At least at first. Give it time to build momentum and from there decide where to focus your advertizing.
Don't sweat the down trends. Many times items have buying seasons. When I had a store for flashlights they collected dust all summer between Easter and Labor Day. Every year.

Do an occasional gimmick like a raffle. Those can be fun. Find out what your customers like and have sales from time to time. And do a hand written news letter at first, not some processed number with buzz words and catch phrases. A heart felt news letter will likely reap rewards in customer loyalty. If customers like the owner they will pass on a good word.

Best of luck.
