A month ago I bought some LEDs from Radio Shack(Assorted LEDs 276-1622 Pkg. of 20) what do I need to make these LEDs work? I've tried putting a button cell between the wires and that doesn't seem to work. Is there more to it or what. Also I plan to use these in a Maglite Solitaire mod. Can someone please help.

The product description says they need 2 to 3 volts to operate.

Review comments on the radio shack site say they should work with 2 volts applied, but may need a resistor to limit current.

What was the voltage of the button cell? Did you have the polarity correct? The longer arm is the positive and the short one is negative.

I used to play with those Radio Shack LED packs all the time when I was a kid - I worked out a rig for it over time; just use one of their 2xAA holders, then attach wires to the leads. This makes it a lot faster to test and switch between LEDs, plus later down the road you can buy a blank PCB board and start doing some real circuitry, you've already got the power source covered.
